It was a wet day but the CAAW Night Herons have completed a major milestone — we completed the teams first ever timed trials at the Boston Dragon Boat Festival!
The competition format was for the teams to race in 2 heats of 200 meter races against 3 other boats. The average time between the two heats is used to place the team in the overall list of teams, ranked based on performance times.
There are 72 teams competing this year, and the CAAW Night Herons came in with an average of 56.26 seconds!
This puts the team in Division C for Sunday’s race. Based on the timed trial performance, the Night Herons will be racing Division C Heat #1 and Heat #2 as follows:
And then based on our performance in these two heats, we will know what time we will be racing in heat 3, which will take place roughly between 2:45 and 3:30.
